It is so unfortunate that one of DStv strongest competitors is closing down the operation. Kwesé has streamlined its satellite television service.

With just 18-months of operation, Kwese TV is closing down operation in over 50 cities across the African continent to focus on digital of Video On Demand (VOD), according to a press statement released by their parent company, Econet Media.

According to a statement released by Econet Media, reportedly said that the development had been necessitated by review of its business strategy and service offerings, meaning that the company is following changes in the global digital and satellite broadcasting sector, as well as the growth in access to mobile and fixed broadband on the continent.

As of November 1, Kwese will only offer three services; Kwese Free Sports, Kwese iflix and Kwese Play. Those who had Kwese’s satellite service were surprised to wake up on the first of this month to see all their channels disappear.

Below is the official statement posted on FB Page by IDGD - Kwese Authorised Dealer:
Dear valued customer,

Having been in the African market for almost two years, Kwesé has taken time to monitor subscriber viewing habits and preferences. These insights have guided our efforts to provide a product range that is aligned to market needs. Kwesé has seen a noticeable shift in consumer viewing habits namely; video consumption on mobile phones, and increased uptake of OTT services across our markets. It is with these changes in mind, that Kwesé is proud to announce its new streamlined product offering.

Kwesé will now offer the following services;

1. Kwesé Free Sports (KFS),
2. Kwesé iflix and,
3. Kwesé Play

In focusing on these three services, Kwesé will streamline its satellite television service. Our new bouquet will carry selected sports and general entertainment programming for a minimal fee. Customers who have already paid their subscriptions for the month of November, or in advance, will receive a refund.

You will now have the option of enjoying premium sports content at no cost on KFS, enjoy world class international and African entertainment, news and sports content with a subscription fee of their choosing on Kwesé iflix, stream over 200 general entertainment channels on Kwesé Play for free with fixed broadband, and delight in a free satellite TV service on Kwesé TV. These changes are in keeping with Kwesé’s commitment to providing affordable premium content.

Kwesé wishes to thank you as our loyal customer for your support. We hope that you continue to support us going forward as you enjoy our affordable premium content services mentioned above.

Kwesé TV’s current subscription services and channel offering will cease as of 1 November 2018.

Further updates regarding Kwesé TV’s revised channel line-up will be announced in due course.
Kwese was launched in Ghana, Rwanda, Zambia, and Nigeria in 2017 as an alternative service to MultiChoice DStv, with the hope that it will change the pay-TV sector in Africa, but unfortunately, Kwese TV failed to outsmart DStv in the pay-TV industry in Africa.

Now that Kwese Satellite TV has conquered, can TStv as well survive their fighting?

Nigeria's first indigenous telecom operator, Globacom has reconfirmed the spread of its 4G LTE service in all the 36 states of Nigeria and also, in the operator’s 4G LTE footprint are 208 tertiary institutions spread across the six geopolitical zones of the country, where students have been empowered with the fastest and most affordable data services.

This effectively makes Globacom the network with the widest 4G LTE coverage of the country, following its introduction of the technology in October, 2016.

Globacom provides its 4G service on the much sought-after 700MHz band, which gives the operator’s 4G service better coverage and penetration.

”The radio propagation property of the 700MHz band enables Globacom 4G signal to travel the farthest, giving the largest coverage for any site. In effect, any city where Glo LTE is present, it covers the widest area than any other network,” Globacom said in a statement released from its head office in Lagos at the weekend.

The operator explained that the band also gives a better indoor penetration than other networks which are not on the band.

”Indeed, it offers seamless 4G coverage within the major cities without the requirement of handing over to 3G or 2G while using data, whether the subscriber is indoor or outdoor. This ensures a better user experience for 4G subscribers on the Glo network”, the operator’s spokesperson said.

According to the spokesperson, another edge the band has is that it comes with a dedicated spectrum bandwidth of 10MHz which gives users the fastest speed required to download movies and videos or listen to music without any delay.

How to Activate Glo 4G LTE Nework
  • First of all, make sure you have a 4G LTE enabled device.
  • Then, go to the nearby Glo office and buy a new 4G LTE SIM, get it registered or simply swap your normal Glo sim for a 4G LTE sim.
  • Once it has been successfully swapped, dial *777# to get any of the 4G available plans.
Glo has made it easier for you to know if your phone is compatible with their 4G LTE network, just text 4G to 400 and you'll receive a message telling you if its compatible or not.
If there is Glo 4G LTE service in your area and you are using it. Please share your experience in the comments section below.

GOtv is a cheaper version of the Digital Television (DTV) Service offered by MultiChoice Africa that neither requires a satellite dish nor tedious installation process. You can simply call it a cheaper version of DSTV.  The GOtv service is available in Nigeria, Zambia, Uganda, Ghana, Malawi, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Kenya Et al.

EO16-O means your decoder has been disconnected and is a common message to every GOtv user who failed to pay for their subscription before it expires. The EO16-O error message may continue displaying on the screen after renewed the subscription, this is simply because your GOtv account is not activated after the successful payment and this is common among those who made the payment through online. Good news to those that love downloading a lot using the vigilante data plan, MTN Nigeria has increased their Pulse Night plan packages! I think this decision was made as a result of losing the data subscribers after the reduction of their Night Plan in August 2018.

In a way to gain back their customers, the telecom giant, MTN has increased the data volume of their night plan. Currently, you can get 250MB for N25 or 500MB for N50 on MTN night plan bundle.

There has also been another awesome adjustment, MTN Pulse Night Plan no longer stops at 3:30am but stops at 5am like others ISP provides. This means the data is expected to last between the time frame of 12am – 5am on subscription.

How to Subscribe
Remember that only MTN Pulse users can subscribe to this plan. If you are not on the MTN Pulse tariff plan, you can migrate to the plan by dialing *406#. After the migration has been completed, send the following codes to purchase any night plan of your choice.
  • 250MB for N25 – text NT1 to 131
  • 500MB for N50 – text NT2 to 131
Note: You must be on the MTN Pulse (Not the mPulse) to enjoy the plan. Migrate by dialing *406*1# or send 406 to 131.

12 Ways To Protect Android/Tablet Devices From Malware Infection

$
0
0
Since the introduction of modern computers, malicious software or malware has been an omnipresent issue. Viruses, Trojans, rootkits, spyware, keyloggers and several others of the like continue to assault your computing devices all the time, looking for vulnerabilities and loopholes in your defenses to get through. Generally, users have become aware enough to deploy some form of protection on their desktops and notebooks, and while infections continue to plague the computing world, they’re significantly reduced in impact.

Smartphones today are nothing short of portable computers as well, and just like that, are prone to malware attacks. Hard as it may seem to believe, developers do spend time creating Smartphone malware that would let them access your personal information, exploit personal data and otherwise do damage to your device. Android Device is a fast-growing mobile platform with apps exceeding 600,000 in the Google Play Store, and believe me when I tell you that an assessment puts over 100,000 of them as “questionable”. While most users don’t pay much attention to it, it’s imperative that you secure your Android smartphone or tablet against the growing threat of mobile malware. They say prevention is better than cure, and in this post, we’ll provide some basic pointers on how to achieve that.

Ways to Keep your Android/Tablet Device Secure
There are easy ways to reduce the risk of infection in your Android. Most of these ways are simply common sense. Developers and specific cell phone manufacturers do encourage their customers to use the proper download applications and widgets.
    1. Download Only From Official Stores
When downloading apps, prefer the well-reputed channels, mainly Google Play Store and the Amazon App Store. Google implements a rudimentary “bouncer” to ward off malware, and the rest is taken care of by the very active Android user community. Hence, these two sources are your most reliable ones.
      2. Keep Installation of Apps from Unknown Sources at “Off”
Unless you’re a power user, it’s highly advisable to keep the installation of apps from Unknown Sources at “off” in the device’s settings. This will help ensure that nothing enters the system except through official channels.
          3. Rooted Devices are More Susceptible
Most advanced users choose to root their Android devices, be extra cautious about granting Superuser access to any app. Make sure you understand the purpose of the SU access and trust the developer enough to grant it. This is the highest level of access that anyone (or anything) can have on your Android device, so be really careful with this one.

          4. Install an Antivirus/Security App on Your Android Smartphone
A lot of capable contenders are available in the Google Play Store for that purpose, with more notable ones being Avast! Free Mobile Security, Lookout Mobile Security, AVG Mobile Security, Kaspersky, and Norton Mobile Security, just to name a few. There is a different feature-set offered by each, so you have room to weigh your options carefully before making a decision to go with one.

          5. It is Important to Read App reviews and See ratings before downloading
Read app reviews and see ratings before you choose to download anything. If it’s something from a renowned developer, you’re less likely to run into trouble as opposed to an app with hardly any downloads and just 2-3 reviews. As a rule of thumb, I don’t prefer apps with a rating of less than at least 3 stars.
              6. Examine the Permissions that an App is Asking For, During Installation
Carefully examine the permissions that an app is asking for, and use your own judgment to decide whether you want that app or not. E.g A puzzle game asking to access your contacts and the phone app is never really a good idea, and neither is a torch app seeking internet permission. Discard apps that seem shady – they’re usually not worth risking personal information over.
                  7. Keep Your Phone Locked Always
While not strictly a malware protection measure, it’s still a good idea to keep your phone locked for security. Someone else gaining access to your device might be able to install undesired software before you reclaim access, and hence, causing you to remain unaware of the whole deal until it’s too late. Likewise, a remote wipe app should also be there, should you ever encounter a scenario where normal access to the device gets blocked by the malware infection.

                  8. Never access links embedded in mass-broadcast messages/emails on your phone.
You never know what’s hidden underneath a URL, and it’s harder to check that on a Smartphone as opposed to a traditional computer. Phishing scams thrive under unrestricted access through your web browser.

                  9. Beware of Fake Apps Even on Play Store
On the Play Store, there are loads of fake apps designed with the intention of infecting your device and stealing your private information. Some apps are designed only to push ads to yourSmartphone. As a matter of fact, most popular apps often have similar ones that are actually fake. You should be careful with these sorts of apps.
                    10. Avoid Pirated Apps
If you love the cracks and pirated apps, your device may become infected without you even knowing it. Pirated apps most often carry Malware strands. Besides, you’re not helping the developers who work hard trying to create these games and apps. Saving $0.99 isn’t worth it, really.

                    11. Porn is the Most Efficient Source of Malware Delivery
I’m in no position to judge you or tell you what to do with your device, but it has been proven that pornographic sites are the most efficient when it comes to infecting your device with malware. Well, you know what to do… be careful with sites you visit.

                    12. Stay Updated
Be on your toes so far as updates are concerned. This is one way in which manufacturers and carriers ensure that you remain protected from Malware attacks. These updates can include enhancements, bug fixes, new features each of which are designed to keep your system in tune with the right way to tackle the malicious attacks. Apart from updating your apps, be sure your device operating system is also up-to-date.

                    Conclusion
Following the above steps will help you ensure that your device remains secure, safe from malware, and most importantly, exclusively yours. Do you have a tip that we should’ve included here and missed? Drop us a comment below.

Those who used the MTN Sm@rt S620 or Sm@rt S720i to enjoyed Glo Bis subscription can never forget those phones. MTN Sm@rt S620 and Sm@rt S720i are the MTN first Android Smartphone which was released sometimes in 2014. Now, MTN is planning to release another 3G feature smartphone in Africa with affordable price.

South Africa-based multinational mobile telecommunications company - MTN, has announced a partnership with China Mobile, chipmaker Unisoc, and software developer KaiOS to launch a 3G “smart feature phone” for Africa.

The new 3G smart feature phone will include rear and front-facing cameras and key Google applications which run on KaiOS. These include Search, Maps, Assistant, and YouTube.

The device will also feature a 2000mAh battery, offering up to two weeks of standby time and 2-5 days of life under average usage.

No brand name has been decided for the device yet. Speaking at AfricaCom, MTN CEO Rob Shuter joked that he is addicted to acronyms, so he looked at the names of the companies — MTN, Unisoc, China Mobile, and KaiOS — for inspiration.

“All I came up with was MUCH, which won’t win any marketing awards,” Shuter said.

MTN aims to sell 10 million devices over the next three years, bringing many new subscribers into the MTN fold in the process.

MTN believed that a large proportion of subscribers still use 3G network in Africa despite 4G penetration. Nigeria, Ghana and South Africa will be few of the countries where MTN will roll out the device.

                    Pricing?
The phone will be brought in at a cheap price of $20 (N7200), MTN said.

The device is expected to be launch in the first quarter of 2019 across nearly all its markets in Africa.

Easy Ways to Mine Bitcoin Online

This is a guest post compiled by Balogun Owomide for Shelaf.com

The demand for global currency is one of the things that led to the creation of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies like Ethereum, Litecoin, and Tether etc.

This crypto coin has witnessed a huge growth since its creation to this particular year. In fact, countries like the Netherlands and its cities are entirely Bitcoin-friendly, i.e. you can sit on a table and conveniently order pizza or a piece of burger with BTC.

As more and more services accept cryptocurrency, you and I need to devise easier ways to obtain them. Let us take a look at some working approaches to help you mine Bitcoins online for free.

Does this sound too good to be true?

You should give it a try… There is nothing to lose…

This digital money is the future of money and the upcoming generations will create more Digital currency that can be bought, mined or traded.

It’s okay if you don’t have money to buy Bitcoin. You can still mine or earn it for free.
                    Yes! That is correct.

                    Mine your own Bitcoins
When Bitcoins were first created; it was first through mining. It was only later that the non-physical money began to get traded for physical cash and other digital cash.

In 2009, 50 BTC was mined every 10 minutes on average by people who help to solve the computational problem. However, the block now mines 12.5BTC. Although this is less, it’s still kind of alluring considering the fact that this particular crypto now costs more.

Here are the legit ways to earning or mining Bitcoins online.

                    1. WCX - https://wcex.com/

Wcx is a low-cost exchange digital currency platform. This platform is a very powerful one and it’s no surprise it made our list of freeways to mine bitcoin online. If you do not have the cash to spend to make Bitcoin online, I recommend you join here and earn bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies by trading it here.

Want to know the best part?

It works super-fast on desktop and mobile and is very convenient to use. Once you register, you will be given free tokens without paying any money, which is an excellent way of making money online.

                    2. Eobot - https://www.eobot.com

Eobot is what you’d call “slow and steady”. The Eobot is a digital currency platform that can and will guarantee you financial freedom once you begin.

So what are you waiting for?
Head over to Eobot and mine your free bitcoin wherever you are in the world. This is a highly trusted site.

Being a first timer on the website might slow down your understanding. So search for “how to use the eobot” and "eobot mining " videos on YouTube today. Download, save and watch how to mine from this platform. It’s so simple like ABC even a small kid can easily learn eobot

Working 20 minutes a day can make you $50-$150 a month. Isn’t that great? Now, imagine if you put in more efforts…. More $$$$ for you!

                    3. MinerGate Mobile Miner - https://minergate.com

The MinerGate cryptocurrency client is available for both mobile and desktop users. It’s very user-friendly ( aside from the pop-up adverts that might show up once in a while). It supports coins like DigitalNote, FantomCoin, Infinium-8, Bytecoin, Dashcoin, Bitcoin, and QuazorCoin.

Want to know what’s really cool about it?
It’s one of the few cryptocurrency mining apps with a built-in wallet for storing mined coins, miner chat rooms, and crypto-currency mining apps. Plus, it’s very easy to draw coins to MinerGate’s crypto exchange( Changelly.com) using this app.

To begin enjoying the many benefits of this platform, you will need to first create an account with MinerGate(an important process) after which you will be presented with two options: Buy Cloud Mining or Mobile Mining. The first uses your mobile device system to mine crypto coins, while the other offloads the processing to MinerGate’s servers for a small fee. However, MinerGate offers only cloud-based mining for Monero and Bitcoin.

                    4. NeonNeon Miner
Like Crypto Miner, NN Miner also requires that you join a cryptocurrency mining pool. It also supports a good number of cryptocurrencies which include Bitcoin, Vertcoin, Litecoin, Feathercoin, and plenty more. The ads are like a Pain in the hand but the company offers an excellent autoconfiguration script that will detect most smartphone chips in secs! Plus a well-detailed cryptocurrency mining.

                    5. AA Miner

If you are looking for a lightweight no-nonse app that is straight to the point, you might want to consider AA Miner’s app. It supports more than 50 cryptocurrecies (Bitcoin, Litecoin, Bytecoin, Dash, FantomCoin, and DigitalNote, and has proven to possess one of “the most profitable mining” algorithm: CryptoNight. You can use cryptoNightto mineBytecoins, Monero, and other Alt coins.

It rocks features of NeonNeon Miner and MinerGate too.

                    Conclusion
Should I go for Eobot, AA Miner, NeonNeon Miner, or Wcx?

I believe using those platforms will guarantee maximum results. Give them a try, you won’t regret using them.
*No more insufficient funds*- Kiss brokenness bye-bye as this might just kick-start your financial independence journey if done right.

41.3 Million Telecoms Users in Abuja and Nine Other States, May Soon Experience Service Blackout

Those who live in Abuja, Nasarawa, Benue, Enugu, Anambra, Edo, Ondo, Ekiti, Kwara and the Niger States which border Kogi State, may soon face telecommunications blackouts following tax disputes between Kogi State government and mobile network operators unless the national government intervenes.

Gbenga Adebayo, Chairman, Association of Licensed Telecommunication Operators (ALTON), made this known on Monday in Lagos while briefing journalists on issues affecting the nation's telecommunications industry.

The ALTON chief said Kogi State Government had allegedly shut down 150 telecoms base transceiver stations belonging to mobile telecoms operators as a result of disputes arising from taxes and levies.

"The operators, comprising MTN, Globacom, Airtel, 9Mobile and Ntel, said that 150 base stations have been shut by the state's revenue agency, warning that if nothing is done, the effect would lead to blackout in nine other neighbouring states to Kogi and parts of Abuja.

"The states to be affected include, Nassarawa, Benue, Enugu, Anambra, Edo, Ondo, Ekiti, Kwara and Niger," he said.
The action will jeopardize communication services to security agencies, banks in the affected areas, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and other critical agencies of government.

The action will jeopardize communication services provided by telecoms to security agencies such as the Nigeria Police Force, the Armed Forces in addition and to other emergency and social services in Kogi and other neighboring states.

This will include affecting communication links to bank automated teller machines (ATM) across those states.

Airtel Triple Data Offer has been in existence since earlier of the year 2017, but up till now, only a few people are enjoying the offer in lowkey, some of us thought that the offer is no more available. So, today, I will share it with you guys as it's still blazing hot, the new method of activating the Airtel Triple Data Offer.

This offer is quite similar to Airtel 4.6GB for N200 that was recently blocked. Airtel Triple data offer rewards you with 3x the amount of data that you purchase. For instance, if you purchase a data bundle of N500, which gives you 750MB data, you should get 2.2GB data. That is three times of the 750MB data that you purchased. The same goes for other plans, but as usual, not all Airtel SIM cards are eligible for the offer. You just need to follow the steps that are going to be listed below to see if you are eligible for it. There is no harm in trying it out.

                    To get 2.2GB for N500, 4.5GB for N1,000 or 10.5GB for N2,000 on Airtel
                    • Send GET to 141.
                    • You should receive a response message like this,
Dear Customer, Congratulations! You can enjoy 100% DATA BONUS ANYTIME EVERYDAY FOR THE NEXT 3 MONTHS
                    • If you received a message like that, continue following the steps, but if you don’t receive a message like that, then it obviously means that you are not eligible for the offer.
                    • Next is to, send, MIFI to 141.
                    • After that, recharge either N500 airtime or N1,000 airtime, you can also recharge N2,000 airtime if you like using the normal code; *126*rechargepin#.
                    • If the recharge was successful, simply purchase any data plan that the airtime can afford, let’s say you recharged N1,000 airtime, and you subscribe to the normal plan, you should get times three of the data plan.
To check your data balance, simply dial *223# and you will get a pop up showing your remaining available data balance.

You can also use *140# to receive a message for all your data balances including BONUS.

How to Get 9Mobile 10GB For Just N2000 With 30 Days Validity

9Mobile is one of the best networks many people like for browsing, but the price of their data bundle is slim high. As we know the normal 9Mobile smartphone monthly plan of 2.5GB cost N2000 and to get 10GB data bundle on 9Mobile will cost you about N8000, but I'm here today to teach/flash you back on how you can easily get the 10GB Data plan for just N2000 on the 9Mobile network!

The offer is not new, this has been saving lives since 1900BC. It is one of 9Mobile official data plan and it was identified as cheapest/affordable data plans in Nigeria.

It is an interesting fact that 9mobile, Nigeria's fourth largest network operator, offers you the option to subscribe for 1GB for N200 data. This has been working for many months ago and sometimes been called Ramadan Special Offer because the plan was unleashed during 2017 Ramadan period. The plan doesn’t zap, and best recommended for everyone. The validity period for this plan is just 3 days, in which you can resubscribe again once it expires.

In other words, you can get 5GB of data for just N1000 on the 9mobile network to last you for 15 days and 10GB for N2000 to last you for 30days. I do this every 3 days for N200, adding it up in a month, making N2,000 for 10GB, you can accumulate as many times as you wish but no auto renewal like the normal data plan from 9mobile.

To Subscribe to 9Mobile 1GB Data for N200
✓ Recharge your line with N200 and dial *929*10# to activate the offer.
✓ Subscription valid for 3 days.
✓ Dial *228# to check your data balance.

You may be receiving error messages when trying to activate the plan, just keep dialing the code and you will surely be activated for the plan.

Let's do the simple mathematical calculation
                    30÷3 = 10
This means you will pay N200, 10times to get 10GB for 30 days. This cannot be compared with the normal plan of N200 for 100MB or 150MB data. Even the grand masters of data, Glo offer just 8.7GB for N3000, so this is the best.

Just that the plan was limited to the small number of 9Mobile SIMs, which cause a headache for most people who are yet to benefit from the plan. Thank God, we have got the means for everyone to enjoy the offer. Simply check this link for the detail: 9Mobile Special Offer of N200 for 1GB Data: How to Make Ineligible Sim to Eligible for the Offer

In my observation of 9mobile network speed, it is faster in areas that cover 4G LTE and it’s available in almost all locations.

The 9Mobile Special offer is not something new, it has been posted much time on this blog for all the audience to benefit from it as it's one of the cheapest that plan at this moment, some are rocking it codedly while others are busy draining the server of ntel data in locations available since it offers you free 10GB data on any sim purchased (ntel WAWU Sim).

If you don’t have a 9Mobile sim, you can simply get one for yourself and join the train.
Let us know via the comment if you are currently rocking this plan on the 9Mobile network.

Samsung Galaxy S10 could be the world’s first smartphone with 12GB RAM and 1 Terabyte internal memory.

A lot of leaks about the upcoming Galaxy S10 built and features are already making rounds on the internet, with the latest one talking about the RAM and local storage of the flagship device. Citing GF Securities (Hong Kong), ITHome says that Samsung could launch a variant of the Galaxy S10 with a 12GB RAM and 1TB onboard storage. This could be the 5G version of the Galaxy S10 that was recently reported as the 10th-anniversary model by the South Korean company.

The 5G version is said to be internally called "Beyond X" and is planned to debut with a massive, 6.7-inch display. It is also speculated to come with as many as six cameras (3 rear, 2 front) in total.

Samsung could formally launch the Galaxy S10 top-end model alongside the other three models at an event in February next year. However, the 5G variant is likely to come sometime after the public debut of 5G networks. To recall, Samsung is said to launch several variants of the Galaxy S10 next year, from a more affordable option to the absolute top-end 5G variant. Each variant is said to feature a different number of cameras on offer.
